Big news. Huge.

There’s a lot going on in Oh Really Becky Land.

1. I’m officially and finally moving to Seattle next week.

2. I am very, very grateful and happy to say that I have a job waiting for me when I get there.

3. I don’t actually have a place to live yet. A full-force apartment search will be happening upon my arrival.

This means a lot less “Becky time”. As you may know, I have this blog, a fashion blog and a wedding blog. The wedding blog has yet to really get started since we just figured out the date last week (October 22nd!), but having the other two blogs to update a few days a week has been a huge time commitment – as you can probably imagine. Plus maybe having my entire personal life out there on the ‘nets to be stalked has started to freak me out a little? So after many sleepless nights, I have decided to go forth with just my fashion blog. Don’t be sad! I’ll still be readily available to stalk, it’ll just be less “I did this random thing that I’m going to share”, and more “Look at what I designed/wore/created” with a very occasional “I did this random thing that I’m going to share”. So if you’re not into fashion – I wholeheartedly apologize. Really. For everyone else, feel free to check out my (hopefully) daily posts that are (mostly) fashion or crafting related.

Snapshots of Seattle

Here’s a random selection of photos I took while I was in Seattle a couple of weeks ago. I’ll be back there for good (!!) at the end of the month and can’t wait to treat the city as if I’m a tourist. (I’m embarrassed to say that I definitely took it for granted the 7 years I lived there.)

Thrifted Thursday: I heart hearts

If I ever write a book it’ll be called, “So you look like you’re 12. And other stories.”. Case in point, I went to my mom’s work holiday party last night and two different people questioned if I was old enough to drink. The second person’s jaw dropped when I told him I was 26 and I had to offer to show him my license before his mouth closed. BUT I figure why not embrace it? Pink hat, heart sweater, coordinating striped gloves. This is in fact the 12-year-old in me screaming to get out. Who am I to hold her back?

The ensemble:

Sweater: Thrifted
Jeans: Gap
Hat: Forever 21
Earrings: Jessica Simpson
Scarf: Macy’s
Boots: Big 5
Gloves: Wherever I was shopping in 2003

Magic Santa

My brother Kyle sent me this Magic Santa video, and I had to share. It’s just as it claims to be – simply magical. Click here to see the one he made for me and then if you’re feeling crazy, make one for a friend. Trust me – you’ll want to. (Kyle told Santa that I’m 7 for some reason, but you can make one for adults too.)

Portland!

Here are a few photos of Portland I took on Friday November 26th. Approximately 4 hours before Crazy Pants attempted to bomb the Christmas tree lighting. (Don’t worry, undercover FBI agents were selling him fake bomb parts and knew his plan the entire time. Sucka’!)

Happy Holidays!

The happiest little radish you'll ever see.

And a little Holiday treat for those who are interested:

I’m not crazy. You’re crazy.

I went shopping at 3 am the day after Thanksgiving. Go ahead, judge me. I’m judging me so you may as well be. It was a spontaneous decision that ended up being fun…but I will never, ever do it again.

Kohl’s opened at 3 am and the people in the front of the line got there at 1 am. Woah, I know. The only reason we left the house at 3 am was to stay awake.

The line went all the way through the parking lot, and it took the people at the end of the line about 10 minutes to get through the door. That’s a long line.

It appears as if that lady in the white coat is yelling at me. Perhaps for taking photos? I don’t remember – I was really tired.

Target opened at 4 am. Before the end of the line got into the store, the people from the front of the line were already leaving with their purchases. IN.sanity.

“You guys! It’s raining. Did you know it’s raining? And that it’s 4 am?” I wanted to ask these things but didn’t.

Before we left the house we had also planned on going to Fred Meyer. But that idea got canned when we saw how many people were at Kohl’s and Target. I mean can you imagine the stampede for the 1/2 price socks? Yikes.

Thrifted Thursday: I’m baaaack

After taking the month of November off, I still needed to include these photos…even if they were taken at the end of September (!!). Add some patterned tights, closed-toed pumps and a scarf, and you have yourself a fun holiday outfit.

The ensemble:

Jacket: Made by me (click here to buy it!)
Shirt: Target
Skirt: American Apparel, thrifted
Peep toes: Thrifted
Necklace: Forever 21

Thanksgiving, in a nutshell

December 1st! Wowza that came fast. Thanksgiving? Gone. Halloween? Long gone. I am in disbelief. Here are some photos taken at my Thanksgiving here in Vancouver, WA.

We were seriously high-tech with the recipes this year.

Ellie, being from Sweden, introduced us to Glögg last year. It was a must for year #2.

(The Glögg fixings and some cheese and crackers to keep us satisfied until dinner.)

Derek, Kyle and Steve conquered the 19 pound turkey. I’m not a big turkey fan, but it was delicious. And the stuffing? Seriously addictive.

This was my first time eating brussels sprouts. I give this recipe two thumbs up.

What could be better on green beans than garlic and pine nuts? I mean really.

The recipes we used:

Glögg

Cheese spread

Green beans with garlic and pine nuts

Brussels Sprouts

Rosemary Roasted Turkey

Apple and Pear Stuffing

Someone casually mentioned to me yesterday that they hope my Christmas countdown is as festive as my “Thirty Days of Thanks” was. No pressure, huh? I don’t have a fully solidified plan for how to best entertain you readers…so for today I’ll leave you with a Christmas movie recommendation. It might be obvious, but in my opinion it’s the best and only way to kick off the month of December:

P.S. Did you notice the snow on my blog? Man I love the holidays.

Thirty Days of Thanks: #30

For my 30th and final post, I am very thankful for free haircuts. In my goody bag at the Best of Seattle Magazine party was a coupon for a complimentary haircut with Faith at 7 Salon. They have a live DJ, the option for a free beverage and Faith was awesome. Go. Go now.

Same new haircut, different look.
